So what is bamboo? A variety of grass, bamboo is nature's substitute for the beautiful yet endangered rain forest hardwoods. Bamboo is much easier to produce and equally versatile. Producing four to five times more bio-mass than the trees felled for wood production, bamboo grows almost everywhere in the world and in enormous variety. In both the tropics and sub-tropics, it achieves great height and thickness in a very short time. The mother plant produces new shoots every year with stems maturing sufficiently hard for harvesting within four or five years, compared to oak, cherry, maple and exquisite rain forest hardwoods that in some cases take 100 or more years to grow to maturity.Hardness and durability
Bamboo flooring is constructed by laminating three layers of bamboo-veneer, glued together under high pressure. Bamboo is extremely easy to handle as a flooring material. It is versatile, durable and appreciably harder than even the majority of oak floors. Bamboo does not shrink and swell as much as most hardwoods used in flooring, thereby making it a very stable flooring product. Why choose bamboo? A Bamboo
floor can withstand a great deal more than your average hardwood floor.
In addition to being attractive, extra-hard and easy to install, it also
represents a considerable ecological savings. Bamboo is manufactured from
a natural resource that can be harvested and replenished both easily and
safely in a short period of time, and at no cost to the environment. Due
to its rapid regeneration properties and low environmental impact, bamboo
is a responsible choice for flooring material. Bamboo is pleasing to look
at, stand on and walk on, and has a natural decorative beauty. Bamboo facts
